My Parents are Dead and My Sister is Disabled
Reblogging this because there is so much truth to this. The amount the government does is pathetic, and anything they do eventually do is after incredibly long, drawn-out battles that carers do not have the resources or emotional capacity to fight (let’s be honest - if we had unlimited cash supplies would we be asking the government for help in the first place?!). My family have been through many of these battles, and they never stop. You have to keep fighting to prove the person is ‘disabled enough’ (whatever that means) to receive any form of government support. A system that is supposed to make life easier for families & primary carers in particular tries its utmost to break their spirit and get them to give up hope on ever acquiring the help they so desperately need. I have nothing but admiration for you for refusing to compromise on your life and aspirations or your sister’s. I sincerely hope you do manage to raise awareness of your situation & get all the support you and your sister need! Everyone reading this please reblog!
